Contract cancellation/transfer fees
If you wish to sell your property before its Title Deed has been issued in your name, some property developers charge a contract cancellation/transfer fee.
Sometimes, this can be a few hundred pounds to cover their legal fees and other expenses. However, in some cases developers charge people many thousands of pounds to cancel or transfer their contract of sale to their buyer.
Can you please help us quantify the scope and scale of this problem.
If you are trying to sell or have sold a property and the developer charged what you consider an excessive amount to cancel your contract of sale, can you please let us know:
The amount developer charged or is charging you to cancel or transfer your Contract of Sale to your buyer.
Whether or not the developer provided you with an invoice or receipt for the cancellation fee.
The price you paid for the property.
The name of the property developer from whom you bought the property.
Any other detail or information that you feel is relevant.
